Paul Stout
is a construction
project manager, estimator, LEED Accredited Professional, facilitator, seminar
instructor, and the AGC of America’s 2009 National
Instructor of the Year.
He brings more than twenty-three years of practical, hands-on
construction experience to the arena. From Laborer
to Project Manager, Paul advanced through the ranks to learn the industry
from the inside out. This progression of personal and career growth included
labor, supervision, and management for hundreds of projects. He was a crew
Foreman or Project Superintendent for five years, an Estimator for more than
five years and a Project Manager for more than ten years. Paul has managed
projects from the position of both Subcontractor and Prime Contractor (GC).
Intimate familiarity with major software packages for Project Management
and Estimating has placed Paul in the unique position to see and hear the
challenges of literally hundreds of construction companies and project owners.
Through presentations, seminars, and training including implementation
consulting, he has developed unique skills for assisting owners, designers, and
construction firms with technology and methodology solutions.
Paul is the founder and Director of
Education Development for Power Summit a national training company.
His understanding of the construction process, vast experience and
dynamic presentation skills enables him to write and present seminar material
with authority and conviction. Since
1999, Paul has presented or facilitated more than 450 construction training
seminars, workshops and partnering sessions in 60
US
cities spanning 22 states. His experience and personal qualities make him a
popular choice for Partnering and event facilitation, consulting and in house
training assignments.
During 2004 and 2005 Paul played an integral role in the development and
facilitation of a majority of the education programs presented through the “Pipeline to Success” in
San Diego
. (Pipeline to Success is the small
business training program sponsored by the outreach programs of the San Diego
County Water Authority and other regional public agencies.
The project was executed through
the Training Source, a joint
venture of the Employee Training Institute (ETI), Power Summit and the Water
Authority). His 2006 -2008
involvement in the small business outreach efforts of the SDCWA includes
presenting seminars under the auspices of GCAP Services and for 2009-10 he will
be working with the Contracting Opportunities Center. (COC)
His latest “Construction Project
Management - The Certificate Course,”
a 26 session series is currently underway in
San Diego
California
for the seventh consecutive offering since 2005.
This 104 hour program results in a certificate from
Palomar
College
and is being facilitated and / or presented by Paul for the AGC (Associated
General Contractors of
America
) San Diego Chapter. Another program
- the 24 hour “Project Engineering
certificate course”, developed and presented by Paul has enjoyed twelve
consecutive runs since 2006.
Paul was a key instructor in the "Construction
Engineering and Project Management" certificate program at
San Diego
State
University
(2001). His curriculum became the core for the development of this new 216 hour
program. He is also a regular instructor for the Construction
Project Management course at the
University
of
California
-
San Diego
(UCSD Extended Studies Department).

California’s Shamu Backstage, Sea World East Out-fall Diversion Line,
Maintenance Hangars at MCAS Tustin, Tactical Vehicle Maintenance Facility at

, Expansion of Jack Murphy Stadium (Qualcomm Stadium), and the Callaway Golf
Ball Facility.
